1.  Fire your Trainer!

I see more worthless trainers than I care to tell you about standing with their clients, yakking about their social calendars, counting worthless repetitions of cable curls and generally wasting their client’s time and money.

2.  Hire a Trainer!

Can’t afford it?  Bullshit.  You can’t afford not to.  Hire someone who’ll not only get you off your ass… but kick it with enthusiasm.  Find the right gal or guy… and it’ll be the best money you ever spent!

3.  Watch the Biggest Loser!

How refreshing… watch NBC’s the Biggest Loser, get inspired and GET OFF YOUR ASS!  It’s a real show with real people and real results.  Jillian kicks ass and Bob strokes.  Nice combo.

4.  Gettin’ Fit is Work!

Remind yourself daily that nothing worth having ever comes easy.  Wanna lose 20 pounds, 50, a 100 or more?  Great!  But know this; it’ll be hard, it’ll take time, and it’s a battle that never ends.  The harder the fight the greater the reward (cue Rocky music).  How is this really any different from any other aspect of our lives?

5.  Get Uncomfortable!

Don’t join one of those social fat groups like Weight Watchers or Curves.  These are just comfortable places for fat people and being comfortable never got anybody anywhere for long.  Change is uncomfortable.

6.  Learn to Squat

Nobody likes it and nobody wants to do it.  This is exactly why everybody should.  Wanna get a flat trim stomach?  Trust me… it doesn’t start with crunches it starts with squats.

7.  Forget Fun… Think Habit

How many times have you heard this one, “Find something you’ll enjoy doing.”  If this is your mindset on making real health and fitness changes, settle in and prepare for the “yo-yo” exerciser role… you just got the part.

8.  Tick-Toc

Life is short so develop a little urgency about life, career, family, and your health.  Now don’t go overboard and freak everyone out but understand…our time on this rock really ain’t that long.  Make the most of it.

9.  Eating Good Tastes Bad

I’m being a little over simplistic here and a whole lot of people will call me on this one but my point is this; a Big Mac tastes damn good.  It always will.  If you’ve eaten food like this your entire life then you’ll have some real work to do retraining your taste buds.  But they can be retrained.  Point is, eating healthy tastes different and successfully doing it will take some discipline.

10.  Don’t Measure and Don’t Weigh

Your new goal is to get off your ass, routinely and regularly.  The rest will take care of itself.
